Please help! I already know the exact answer, but I just need to figure out what digit to round it to. The exact answer is 35.51, and I think I'm supposed to round it to 35.5, but I need to make sure that this is the correct answer before I submit it for grading. This is the question: The length of the base of a triangle is 5.3 cm and its height is 6.7 cm. If the area of the triangle is half of the product of its base length and height, the area of the triangle is __________ cm2. (Round your answer to the appropriate significant digits) Please respond ASAP! Thanks, ~Micah K.

I'm not quite sure that this has to do with Geometry, but it involves triangles, and I didn't know what else to do.

It depends on if your teacher wants you to round to the nearest tenth or the nearest whole number. I had geometry last year, and my teacher would say which he wanted us to round to. IF it doesn't say in the directions, I would try and ask a fellow classmate what they are doing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It DOES say. It says to round your answer the the appropriate significant digits. What does that even mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um I'm not sure. Can you email your teacher and ask him/her what that means specifically? Or are you not allowed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If your teacher won't allow you to email them questions, I would round to the nearest whole number. That's what the "significant" digit sounds like. But try to see what your teacher says, or what your classmates think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I can, but I thought that I'd ask here so that other people can learn as well.....

Oh I see. Well I hop you found your answer
