7+2x=4x-3

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

OpenStudy values the Learning process - not the ‘Give you an answer’ process Don’t post only answers - guide the asker to a solution.

I'm trying to help my niece I need to explain but I completely forgot hot to do this :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7+2x=4x-3 +3 +3 10+2x=4x -2x= -2x 10=2x 2 2 x=5 is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do we subtract 7s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im stupid thats wrong I think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can u explain it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well sure, I can explain. Do you know PEMDAS?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

You are using the idea of "balance"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Order of operations.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well yeah, balance what you do to one side you do to the other..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Charro you need to try and isolate the variable

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to do this add 3 to both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 2x from both sides because you only want the X on one side.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

@AcidRa1n Why don't you let @charro ask questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry I was trying to explain it to him. He asked if I could explain it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm kinda excited because it's something I actually know how to do >.< :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

skull can you help me on my question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@acid thanks..I'm trying to refresh my memory. I don't want to look like the dorky aunt lol

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

let @charro finish...any questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well she subtracted and somehowgot the same answer acid did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you can go either way. In PEMDAS you could sometimes subtract before you add. it still works out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok cool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah! lol thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm new to this..how can I get a hold of you again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

put your mouse over my name and fan me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you can either use @acidra1n in a question or send me a private message

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cool thanks again
