Help please ?
@ganeshie8 I only have 4 more questions ! D:
good :)
Yay so you're willing to help ? :)
yes why not for a brilliant student like u, its easy to explain :)
Great ! Thank you so so much ! You have no idea how much I appreciate it :)
ok, so Juliana has $24 in her pocket. and she wants to knw how many text messages she can send
Right
she knows that \(f(x) = (3x+2)/4 \) gives the cost, when u put number of messages x into the equation
for example, if u have texted 10 messages cost wud be :- f(10 ) = (3(10)+2)/4 = 32/4 = 8 so it wil cost u $8 just to text 10 msgs... pretty costly !!
Okay makes sense !
but thats not wat we want, here our task is to find a function, into which we can plugin the MONEY we have, and it should tell us how many TEXTS we can message
I tried working it out and got 18.5 ..
right ?
I think I'm getting ahead of myself here haha i apologize
And yes , right :)
its okay, but 18.5 messages for $24 doesnt look correct
let me show u how to do this step by step
Please and thank you !
given equaiton :- \(y = f(x) = (3x+2)/4 \) here, x is number of texts, y is dollars
since you wanto know how many texts u can send, you need to solve x above.
\(y = (3x+2)/4\) solve x
How would I start off ?
multiply 4 both sides
4(3x+2) ?
\(y = (3x+2)/4\) multiply 4 both sides \(4y = 3x+2\)
next, subtract 2 both sides
\(y=(3x+2)/4 \) multiply 4 both sides \(4y=3x+2\) subtract 2 both sides \(4y-2 = 3x\) divide 3 both sides \(\large \frac{4y-2}{3} = x\)
now, replace x and y (just do it, il tell you later why :))
replace x & y \(\large \frac{4x-2}{3} = y \) \(\large y = \frac{4x-2}{3} \)
Isn't it to put the equation in the correct form ?
thats the required function, where u need to plugin x=$24, and it gives u number of text messages u can send !
exactly ! you're right, we replace x and y, to put the function in right form :)
Yay :D
put x = 24, and see how many messages she can send
Wait so that's the answer ?
yes thats the required function ! since the question wants u to explain, explain wat we did so far :)
btw, for $24, she can send :- \(\large y = \frac{4x-2}{3}\) \(\large y = \frac{4(24)-2}{3}\) \(=33\)
sorry, that should be 31, so she can send 31 messages
So with $24 she can send 33 text messages ?
*31
Oh okay :) So everything we just worked through is the answer basically ? Because it says to put in complete sentences
yes ! ima hav dinner... brb :)
Haha okay !
