Let u = <-5, -3>, v6, -1>. Find -3u + 5v.

Can you type the question again?@lauren9695

OpenStudy (phi):

u and v are vectors if you multiply a vector by a coefficient, you multiply each of its terms example: 3* <a ,b>= <3a, 3b>

OpenStudy (phi):

to add two vectors, you add their corresponding elements for example <1,2> + < 3,4> = <1+3, 2+4>

OpenStudy (phi):

if u = <-5, -3> what is -3u ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldn't you put them together so it would be 15*3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it will be <15,9>

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I see but none of the choices are that answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5<6,-1>=<30,-5> adding <15,9>+<30,-5>=<45,4> so ans is<45,4>

OpenStudy (phi):

you have to do this problem in steps. first -3u then 5v then add those two results together.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh thank you sooo much can you help with one more question
