f(x)=sqrtx-1, can anyone walk me through how to find the range of the function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First look at the function \[f(x) = \sqrt{x}\]Its graph looks like this|dw:1378512376997:dw| Notice that the square root of a number is never negative. The range is basically the possible y-values for that function. The range for sqrt(x) is [0,infinity) and the -1 causes the graph to shift down 1, changing the range to [-1, infinity)

ok so the final answer is -1,infinity?

i understand the graph i just thought for some reason it couldnt be negative:(
