yes based on your simulation...you are assuming a uniform distribution from 0 to 1 for each step why do you do 3*step - 1 ??

to determine a std dev without data you need to know the type of distribution "about 1 meter" is vague, does it vary from 0 to 1 or .5 to 1.5 ?

SDM = s/sqrt(n) = s/sqrt(20)

idk I'm confused. first question was list the location of each of the 20 drunks in "steps" right(+) or left(-) from the bar. so I said 9 steps to the right 6 steps to the left ???????????

how did you get that? there must be more info about the steps than "about 1 meter" please post entire problem with instructions and all info

it seems like you are to assume 1 meter = 1 step and a "walk" consists of a num of steps in random directions
