Hello! Do you understand the context of the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i don't understand

OpenStudy (theeric):

Okay! So, there are many different colors of paint. There is some white, some brown, and some blue. They are mixed together to get another color, but what's really important is how much of that color is there. The question asks how much paint Peter had. So, this new color has all the paint of the other colors. You have "3 gallons of white paint with 6 gallons of brown and 9 and a 1/2 gallons of blue paint." So, how many gallons would that be? That's what you want. Do you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think.. is it 18 and a half?

OpenStudy (theeric):

How did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

adding them together?

OpenStudy (theeric):

Yep! I agree! Congrats! :)

OpenStudy (theeric):

Now, if you go back and read the problem, can you see that that is what it is asking about? It's good to learn to understand the questions! You can't find an answer without a question!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you so much!

OpenStudy (theeric):

You're very welcome! :)
