Question

I don't know where to go for assistance on powersupply problem that my friend has right now: my friend was on her computer (she's very illiterate about computers, thus was taken advantaged of) tonight and though it was charging. NOT! She was sold a Toshiba powersupply for an eMachines M250 netbook....This is the rude, cruel and unacceptable behavior of pawn shops and computer repair shops in my town: SCANDULOUS! IF anyone has a power supply for an eMachines M250 that they have laying around for free, please respond on here to me so my friend can get back on her computer. Please find it in your heart to help a geek's friend? if anyone has an adapter powersupply for an emachines M250, please contact me for more info.

If it has the right connector, voltage, and enough amps it should work. I know a few Dells that they did some freaky monitoring stuff with to force people to buy theirs, but other than that it is basic electronics principals. If the voltage or amps are low, don't use it. If the voltage is high, don't use it. If the amps are high, well, it will be less efficent as a PSU, but can work. generally I try not to go super high on the amps because some cheap PSUs ramp up the volts with the amps and if the load is not enough, they overvolt.... But up to one and a half times should not be an issue.

More info: the charging adapter is a Toshiba and she has a eMachines netbook, the tip doesn't fully fit to even begin charging. That is why I am looking for an emachines charger for the M250 model.

I found them from $20 to $50 online just by searching by the manufacturer and model number.

OK, I cliked the store link on the eMachines support site and they have two chargers for that unit, a 30 watt and a 60 watt, for $20 and $30. So you can buy direct from the manufacturer and get it for not too bad a price.

Frankly, I was surprised. Most times the mfg is like \(2\times\) to \(3\times\) the after market price. This time they are in the low end. They also have the batteries, and that back-ordered one means it will not have been sitting on a shelf forever, so if your friend needs one of those too, it would be worth looking at that. But best to make sure the unit works well before spending too much on it...
