Just the Slope-intercept form atm, I said the answer was
y = 3(0) + 1 is that correct?
OpenStudy (dls):
umm no
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
Augh I didn't think so, could you help me please?
OpenStudy (dls):
replacing (0) with (pi/2) should be most easy task here
so that slope = tan theta = tan pi/2 = undefined

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
Wait would it be y = 3x + 1?
OpenStudy (dls):
for x-intercept to be 7,your equation should give x=7 on substituting y=0
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
wait you're confusing me
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
Where did you get the 7 from?
OpenStudy (dls):

by definition, vertical lines have undefined slope
they're of form x=k
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
my teacher hasn't taught me tan and all of that stuff yet, I'm refreshing my memory of the basics of slope and graphing. She just wants me to convert the two points into the three forms
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
ohk, since x-intercept is here 7, we can blindly write the equationas x=7 :)
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
I'm sorry Ganeshie and @DLS I sent the wrong file!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
first find the slope
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
The slope is 3
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
good :)
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
now just convert them to the asked forms
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
point slope form : y-y1 = m(x-x1)

(4 – 1) = 3(1 – 0) Point-slope form
y = 3x + 1 Slope-intercept form
I don't know how to do Standard form
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
noo
(y – 1) = 3(x – 0) Point-slope form
y = 3x + 1 Slope-intercept form
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
How come the x and y aren't in there? and how do you know which points to use?
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
you can use any point
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
ohh

Same thing for the Standard form? I can use any point?
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
Point slope form :-
equation when using , point (1, 4) and slope 3 :-
y-4 = 3(x-1)
equation when using , point (0, 1) and slope 3 :-
y-1 = 3(x-0)
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
notice that both equations give us same thing after simplification
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
THat's how you know it is correct?
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
yes :)

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
Okay:D
How do I solve for standard form?
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
start wid point-slope form
y-1 = 3x
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
change it to the form , Ax+By = C
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
Okay, one second
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
So
y - 1 = 3x
+1 + 1
y = 3x + 1
-3x -3x
-3x + y = 1
Is that correct?
