Is there anyway to do the following (a 2-part question): Q1. To make a Vista Home Premium Recovery Disk without spending 300$ for an original disk? and Q2: Is there any way to save the problem sets to disk, using the GUI Shell app of Python? Is anyone on PS 1?The Prime Numbers problem?

There is nothing special about Windows disks. Any disk with the proper file set on it will work with the license tag that is on your machine. They can be copied or ordered from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=326246 HOWEVER: If your machine is by a major manufacturer, it is best to order the recovery set from them. That will ensure that they license number you have will work with the dist. There are different levels of system builder DC/DVDs and if you use the wrong one, it will not take your code. Most recovery sets from the manufacturer are about $20. They charge for the disks and shipping.

As for saving from the GUI Shell: it has two parts, the runtime shell which does not save files and the editor, which does. http://www.cs.uky.edu/~paulp/CS115F11/labs/Lab0.html That goes over it with screen shots. Just remember to save the files with a .py extension. $\ddot\smile$

To answer Q1, you can look up your OEM install disks on http://www.thepiratebay.se if you don't want to pay. I don't condone piracy but if you already own Windows I don't see a problem. Just look up "[the name of your computer manufacturer] OEM Windows Vista Home Premium" and you should find it. Be aware you will need a Bittorrent client though (Google it)

The problem with downloading ISOs is they have found several where people slipstreamed in a virus to be installed with the OS.
