factor 4a^3+20a ^2b

OpenStudy (psymon):

The b isnt an exponent, right, only the 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (psymon):

Well, your looking for the largest possible number that can be divided out of each term and then the largest power of a that can be divided out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i already did it, but i cant come up with an answer :(

OpenStudy (psymon):

So do you know what number and variable to divide out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i took the a puit so i got a (4a^2 + 20ab) then i tried to factor but neither 2-2 or 4-1 for the a square math with 10-2 or 5-4 for the 20ab

OpenStudy (psymon):

Well, you dont need to factor it in that way, all you need to do is find the largest number that goes into both 4 and 20. Not only that, but you can pull out another a. You took out a first power of a, but you can take out two powers since both terms still have an a remaining.

OpenStudy (psymon):

a^2(4a+20b) Now its justtaking out the largest possible number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok igot it, thank you somuch :D

OpenStudy (psymon):

Yep, np :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Synthetic division

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@juanramon.33 :Got it ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you still need help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i got it thank you very much tho :D
