Suppose that y varies inversely with x. Write an equation for the inverse variation. y = 2 when x = 5 A. x= y/3 B. y = 3x C. y=10/x D. y=x/10

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

something VARIES INVERSELY to something else, means \(\bf something = \cfrac{n}{\textit{something else}}\) what's the constant "n"? we dunno but we do know that when y = 2, x = 5 so let's use that in our inverse variation equation \(\bf something = \cfrac{n}{\textit{something else}} \implies y = \cfrac{n}{x}\implies 2 = \cfrac{n}{5}\) solve for "n" to find what "n" is, and thus use it in the \(\bf y = \cfrac{n}{x}\) equation
