Combine the like terms to simplify the expression: 8x3 – 2x2 + x + 3x3 Help please :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the like terms are the terms with the same variables and same exponents

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

for instance, 8x^3 and 3x^3 are like terms (the exponents are the same) but -2x^2 and x are NOT like terms (the exponents are different)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

to combine like terms, you just add/subtract the coefficients (the numbers out front) so... 8x^3 + 3x^3 = 11x^3 since 8+3 = 11

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

there are no other like terms to combine, so your final answer is \[\large 11x^3 - 2x^2 + x\]
