OpenStudy (brinazarski):

When 23 molecules of pyruvic acid are broken down completely to CO2 and H2O in the presence of oxygen, how many molecules of ATP will be produced?

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

I literally have NO idea how to start. I can't find this in my textbook or in my notes. And I have more questions like this, so I would really appreciate knowing how to do this

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

I'm still here, but I have to brb for a moment

OpenStudy (aaronq):

how many ATP molecules are produced per glucose molecule? 1 glucose = 2 pyruvates by starting with pyruvate, you skip glycolysis (so minus 2 ATP that would be proceed there for every 2 pyruvates)

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

@aaronq 6 atp...?

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

i really know NOTHING about biology so i dont know.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

I guess 414 ATP molecules. 2 pyruvate after krebs ets gives 36 atp. So 1 pyruvate gives 18atp. So 18*23

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

It actually turned out to be 287.5... someone on Yahoo! Answers explained it to me. :) But thanks!
