for what purpose does a cell use the energy from the reddox reaction in the cellular respiration

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Redox reactions require energy to start but release energy by shifting electrons to a lower energy state. The activation energy is the only barrier to the release of the electrons to a lower energy state (this prevents uncontrolled combustion of organic molecules). Cellular respiration is a redox reaction: C6H12O6 becomes oxidized, and six molecules of O2 become reduced to make 6H2O+6CO2 + Energy. The release of energy is used to synthesize ATP to do work in the cell. Here read more: https://www.boundless.com/biology/cellular-respiration/cellular-respiration-overview/redox-reactions/
