"Pagan" is an umbrella term for any and all religions that do not worship the god of Abraham. In other words, anyone who does worship or hold sacred something but is not a Muslim, Jew or Christian is by definition a pagan.

So finding an ethos you could apply to such a very broad group of people would be very difficult. For instance, if you were to narrow it down and just look for an ethos for the modern American brand of eclectic pagan. You might be tempted to think walking lightly upon the earth, treating her well that she may not be harmed by our passing would qualify. Yet, I am certain you can find self described eclectic pagans who don't give the Earth a second thought.

In this form of question, you use the basic meaning of ethos.

Now, this is about pagans, which you saw one definition of above as being non-believes in relation to a certain group of religions. In the original sense, it was only the people that followed polytheism. Later it got expanded to atheism and basically anyone that did not agree with the mainstream church. However, it does have some sub definitions that are worth looking into.

Now add the two together. What distinguishing character or guiding beliefs of of this group makes them unique. Also, a lack of belief can be seen as a guiding belief. For example, atheists have the guiding belief that there is no god of any type. The pagans encompass more than that, so you need to summarize what beliefs, morals, etc. make a pagan a pagan and not just a polytheist or atheist.
