how do you solve 8-8 x 2 + 3 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is than an x value or a multiplication sign?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiplication

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if multiplication sign then it will be 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you work the problem?

OpenStudy (homeworksucks):

BEDMAS would lead you to doing 8*2 first, getting 16, 8-16 is -8, finally plus 3 would be -5, \[-5 \neq 0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We have to put the parentheses and braces in correct places to make the answer true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you follow PEMDAS to find out what order to do them in http://www.coolmath.com/prealgebra/05-order-of-operations/images/order-of-operations-05-01.gif

OpenStudy (homeworksucks):

ohhhhh, i see, i think (8-8)x(2+3) would work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you, now 5+4-5+3*8/2=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nerw, you don't add parenthesis if they're not already there unless you know where they should go, or you're trying to force the problem to be done a certain way.

OpenStudy (homeworksucks):

I think that its more of a brain teaser, and the question was instructed that way..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

id them in the correct places to get the answer
