Put these four events from the American Revolution into chronological order (type in the number of the event, 1 - 4). Potential Matches: 1 : The Boston Massacre 2 : The American Revolution begins 3 : The Sugar and Stamp Acts 4 : George III is crowned
Well, what do you think would make the American colonists to rebel?
i'm not that good with history sorry
Well lets say your buying a candy bar. Normally a candy bar would be a dollar. Now after a new law is passed your candy bar now costs four dollars. What do you think this would relate to out of those options you gave me?
the sugar and stamp acts?
Yes, now who do you think would have been king to make this law?
george III is crowned
So far, we have this. King George the third is crowned, then sugar and stamps act is enacted. Now if the colonist were angry about the new law, what would happen? They would rise up and make trouble for the British soldiers. Maybe enough trouble to make the Soldiers take action on them. What event do you think is next?
the american revolution begins, right?
Well I understand why you would think that, but no The Boston Massacre is what sent the colonists off the edge. So we have King George being crowned, The Stamp act, the Boston Massacre, and finally the American revolution begins.
ohh okay! thanks! I also have another question i'm having trouble with if you don't mind
Shoot.
Which of the following is a good example of the influence of Enlightenment ideas on state constitutions? Parliamentary structure — The early state constitutions all copied Pennsylvania's model and had a unicameral (one house) legislature. Judicial review — The state constitutions all created special boards of censors to review and reject bad laws. Popular sovereignty — The people ratify the constitution and then vote for government. State of nature — The state constitutions all contained Jefferson's provision that all laws expire every 17 years and have to be passed again.
I would have to say Judicial review, not sure though.
i was thinking that too but i wasn't so sure
i just have this last one All of the following provisions made the national government weak under The Articles of Confederation except: regulate trade. pass a law unless 9 of the 13 states agreed. make arrangements for new states to join the Union. enforce its decisions.
The articles gave the government no separation of powers. The government was too weak, the Articles left much of the power to the states (if I remember correctly, states basically went by their own state constitution). Congress didn't have the power to tax. To change the Articles, it had to be decided unanimously by all states. Also, 9 out of the 13 states had to approve any major law before it was passed and Congress couldn't regulate commerce. There was no president to lead, no established court system, and every state had only one vote in congress. -Source, google.
so pass a law unless 9 of the 13 states agreed?
No, Regulate trade. The not passing a law without unanimous decision is what made it weak. But regulating trade did not.
ohh okay. thank you though!
No problem
