Math help. Question below. Solve the compound inequality -6<3(x+5)<18 The < symbol in the question is actually the "less than or equal to" sign, I don't have a button for that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Firstly, split it into 2. -6<3(x+5) and 3(x+5)<18 so for -6<3(x+5) -6<3x+15 -21<3x x>-7 and for 3(x+5)<18 3x+15<18 3x<3 x<1 So the answer is -7<x<1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide the expression by 3 and then subtract 5 you will get the range of x which will be the solution for the given inequality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

upon dividing by 3, the inequality is -2<x+5<6 then subtract 5 from the whole inequality implies -2-5<x<6-5 therefore -7<x<1 is your answer
