OpenStudy (cenaida):

Consider the following graphed inequality. What is the correct representation by the graph? http://roads.advancedacademics.com/contentserver/content/roadssection/307308//standard1d_part2_line10_problem.jpg A. y > 2x + 2 B. y ≥ 2x + 2 C. y ≤ 2x + 2 D. y < 2x + 2

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

what's the problem?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I know that, but what is the problem why you're not able to answer it?

OpenStudy (cenaida):

im in between c or d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to plug in 0 for x and y which would be a false statement meaning you shade away from (0,0) and the line is solid with means equal to. Which makes the answer what?

OpenStudy (cenaida):

D?

OpenStudy (psymon):

So since the 2x+2 part is the same all the way around, we can just figure this out with a few observations. The first is that your graph is a solid line. When it is a solid line, we have a <= or >=, meaning any answer with simply < or > is thrown out. Secondly, y > ____ means the area above the line is shaded and y < _____ means the area underneatht he line is shaded. So given that info, which do you think is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer would have to be either B or C because they have a equal to or less then/greater then sign.

OpenStudy (cenaida):

B! :D

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

why C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct :)

OpenStudy (psymon):

There ya go, B xD

OpenStudy (cenaida):

Thanks @Psymon and @melb94!!

OpenStudy (psymon):

Yep yep.
