Determine if the conditional statement is true or false given the following: p is false. q is true Is ~q -> ~p true or false?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hint: P -> Q is only false if both P is true and Q is false

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks one questiom though, id ont understand what ~ symbol means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

~ means "not" it's the opposite of whatever the truth value is

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so for example if P is true, then ~P means "not P" and it means "not true" or just simply "false"

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

~P = not P ~True = False therefore, if P = true, then ~P = false

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhhhhhhh thanks a bunch! i understand, best answer!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
