Well.. for the first one, do you know what a complementary angle is?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no
OpenStudy (luigi0210):
Well figure it out, once you do we will move on.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
its two angles (40° and 50°) are Complementary Angles, because they add up to 90°
OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, assign the variable 2 to x, and find the difference between the equations.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
wait what?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
The first question, you have these equations:
3x+9
and
5x+9
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok i get that.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
To start off, we're going to use substitution. So for now, use the number 2 to replace x.

6 & 4?
OpenStudy (luigi0210):
Okay, taking over from where Skye was: Add the two equations together
(3x+9)+(5x+9)=90
Can you solve this?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
168
OpenStudy (luigi0210):
What..?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
how do i solve it?

Combine like terms.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
can u show how to do it?
OpenStudy (luigi0210):
(3x+5x)+(9+9)=90
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok than what?
OpenStudy (luigi0210):
add everything..

*waves little pompom*
OpenStudy (luigi0210):
How did you get 168..??
And thanks Austin ;-;
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i added it all together
OpenStudy (austinl):
*waves pompom* Go LuiLui Go!
And to add to thunder, you cant have variables and then just condense it down to a number.
\((3\color{red}{x}+5\color{red}{x})+(9+9)=90\)
However I may be wrong...

OpenStudy (anonymous):
I forget how ud solve for x can u help me with that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
can u just give me da answer?
OpenStudy (austinl):
No. We don't do that here, it is against the rules. It really isn't that hard...
