One group of students is investigating the cause of the unusual color of water in wells of a location. They analyze the land surfaces and gather data about the locations of the polluted wells. What should be done to ensure that their results are reliable and valid? a. match the results with secondary sources b. get the results approved by government agencies c. publish the results in newspapers and magazines d. share the results with others who can repeat the study

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, in order for an experiment to be proven true, others have to be able to find the same results to validate them. So what answer would be the best so that others can find their own results as well?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This questions tricky but no. They need to share the results so others can validate the results right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see so its d then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! I just took that test and got the answer right , so you can count on it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not a problem! Glad I could help!

do you know this one? One student did an experiment with sand, gravel, food coloring and water. The steps of the experiment are shown below. Fill about half of a plastic cup with layers of gravel and sand. Pour water into the cup and observe it seep through the layers. Add two drops of food coloring on one side of the gravel layer. Observe the food coloring mix with the water. What does the student's experiment most likely demonstrate? a. movement of groundwater through sinkholes b. movement of pollutants through the groundwater c. chemical reaction between acid rain and groundwater d. chemical reaction between groundwater and layers of earth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd say that the water in the experiment represents the water under Earth's surface and the food coloring would be pollutants in that supply :) I didn't give you the answer straight up so what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Exactly! Pollutants really aren't good in the groundwater supply. Funny, I just learned all this!
