Statistics Help: Suppose a normal distribution has a mean of 100 and a range of 60. What are the lowest and highest values of the range? Suppose a positively skewed distribution has a median of 50 and a range of 40. What are the lowest and highest values of the range? Reviewing for a test and I don't know how to find this. Can someone please explain?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

in answer to the 1st question the values could be anything, the data could be a normal dist with a positive skew or negative skew. but if you're assuming its a normally distributed symetrical curve then the mean is the middle to lowest is 100 -30, and highest is 100 + 30

got it. THANK YOU!!

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

for the 2nd part the mean is to the left , positive skew |dw:1379883767920:dw| the median is the physical middle of the data... and give the long tail to the right the max value could be median + range... or something like that.
