well a compound is a combo of two molecules or elements an atom is a basic unit of an element

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you imagine that atoms are brick, and elements are types of bricks, it should explian itself. atoms are the smalledt parts of matter, and elements are types of atoms a molecule is a combination of 2 or more atoms, while a compound is a combination of 2 or more elements

Thats a good link @lowcard2! Slightly inaccurate @annikaroo: you are right you need two or more atoms to make a molecule, but generally crystalline, ionic compounds are not included in this category. Like the first statement in the link describes: "A molecule is formed when two or more atoms join together chemically. A compound is a molecule that contains at least two different elements. All compounds are molecules but not all molecules are compounds."
