I've been trying to figure out this problem for over 2 hours. Can you please show me how you get the answer so I can work the problem backwards. Its how I learn. Thanks A pre-image segment with endpoints (3, 2) and (4, 2) is dilated to the image segment with endpoints (9, 6) and (12, 6). What is the scale factor for the dilation? CHOICES: 2, 3, 6, 9

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

its easy... we can finish it in few seconds... u ready ? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. i'm up.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

after dilation, (3, 2) became (9,6 ) after dilation, (4, 2) became (12,6 )

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

after dilation, (3, 2) became (9,6 ) ^ ^ 3 is pre-image, 9 is image scale factor = image/preimage = 9/3 = 3

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u can take ratio of ANY image and pre-image u wud get the scale factor

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

see if that makes some sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you thank you. wish my lesson book explained it that easy. huge help thanks again.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

aww thnks... u deserve some good sleep im sure :) goodnight !
