In the Computer Science group, it would be better if there was a place for the asker to specify the programming language he/she is using, at least for the question. Or else, it can be confusing.
Agreed. We need subsections.
Same for biology, chemistry and physics.
While subsections seem nice... people would still need to use them. If there was a notice bar in the sections that had some sort of message about tips for that section it might work as well. So for programming, "Please remember to to mention what language or course this is for." Physics, hmm... "Please remember to to mention what branch of physics or course this is for." It could be something that shows above/below the Ask a question... if they click inside the ask thing. Near where it says the current subject when it opens up.
No, I just mean we need a place to specify the language(s) used for the question. We do not need subsections to specify the languages at all. Examples: <C++> How to print the text "Hello World" <Html> Are there any good resources to build a website using html? There are some cases that we do not need to specify the language, e.g. "What is polymorphism?". Then, the asker can choose not to select a specific language for this question.
So perhaps smething that would modify the Ask a Question post based on a checkbox that was selected? Prefill it in partially?
Hmm.. Both will do.
Another thing that might help is the concept of a sticky post. This is common in BBSes. I would say one post that could be edited only by mods/admin that stays at the top of the group. The information contained would be generic by default, but could be changed to be more specific. The positing here is a reasonable example: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5264b302e4b040e33d2c64b1 And yes, I know that this would mean a new feature to keep it at the top and restrict who could add/edit, so I do not see this happening any time soon. Just another idea for the barbie to slowly roast. =)
@thomaster there is a biology section but not sure about the other subjects you said
He means sub groups inside those. Biology to micro and marine and so on.
What does that mean?
Look at math or computer science, you will see a list of sub groups.
I saw it and now I know what are you and @dumbsearch2 are talking about
