Which polygon is written in ascending order?

The last one...descending order would be t^2-t+4. Ascending order would be the opposite.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! Arrange the following polynomial into descending order and identify the third term.

OpenStudy (debbieg):

I think you mean polynomial. :) "order" means the degree of each term, which means the sum of the powers of any variables. E.g.: \(\Large t^3\) is a 3rd degree term \(\Large t^2\) is a 2nd degree term \(\Large t\) is a 1st degree term Any constant can be thought of as a "0" degree term. So ascending means put terms in order from smallest to largest degree Desending means from largest to smallest.

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Is that 2nd image you answer? That isn't correct....

OpenStudy (debbieg):

*your

The second image are the answer choices, a, b, c, and d.

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Oh, I see. OK, so the answer is really just, what is the 3rd term. What do you think? Do you understand what I wrote above?

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Can you put the terms in order?

OpenStudy (debbieg):

You have terms that are degree: 3, 2, 1 and 0. So just put them descending order (largest to smallest). What's the 3rd term? :)
