1. Describe at least one societal issue that scientists will be able to address using the sequence of the human genome. 2. What ethical considerations will arise if this research is pursued? 3. Who should decide whether scientists should pursue research that poses ethical dilemmas? Explain your response.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

i think...with the help of human genome..u can research about loads of things. why to start a research which would create ethical dilemma..there are still lot many diseases to be cured. and this can be done using the genome info.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

for eg cloning humans...this is considered unethical...and its banned i guess(not vry sure). but is cloning humans necessary? as it is v are facing population explosion problems without cloning humans:P

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

On December 13, 2001, the United Nations General Assembly began elaborating an international convention against the reproductive cloning of humans. A broad coalition of States, including Spain, Italy, the Philippines, the United States, Costa Rica and the Holy See sought to extend the debate to ban all forms of human cloning, noting that, in their view, therapeutic human cloning violates human dignity. so its banned.
