Near what rivers did the early Indian civilization develop?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The earliest civilization in India was located in the Indus River Valley in the Northwest of the Indian subcontinent. Historians refer to this civilization as the Harappan civilization because Harappa, a city in the Indus River Valley, was the first site to be discovered as a dwelling place of the people of this civilization. The other major city that has been excavated from this civilization is Mohenjo-Daro, which is to the southwest of Harappa but still in the Indus River Valley. Not much is really known about the civilization because while they had a written language, scholars have been unable to translate it so far. Because of this it is unknown what sort of people and cultures really lived in the Indus River Valley civilization, but it is possible that they were proto-Dravidians, related to the later Dravidian peoples of Southern India. I hope that helps.
