given: angle 1 is congruent to angle 4. Prove: angle 2 and angle 5 are supplementary

Directrix (directrix):

Please post the diagram. Thanks.

Please be sure that you have posted all the given information. Do we know that we have parallel lines? Is that given? If not, we will have to prove that first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i posted all the given information. And yes I can see that there are parallel lines. It is not listed in the question though.

Directrix (directrix):

In a Geometry proof, it is incorrect to determine that lines are parallel because they just look parallel.

Is this question a proof? It never said in the question that it was a proof.

Directrix (directrix):

Look at the question: Prove: angle 2 and angle 5 are.... Note that there is also a Given: I think this is a task in which you are to write a two-column deductive proof. That is why I kept asking about the Given.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh ok isn't there also the way where you can add the angles to see if they add to 180 degrees instead? can I do that too?

Directrix (directrix):

We are not given any angle measures on the diagram so I think that the only solution will be through a proof.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you do the proof for me? I don't know what to do. I'm really confused.
