How do you solve 3(h-5)

OpenStudy (phi):

you only solve equations. equations have equal signs ( a = ) in them 3(h-5) is "an expression" you don't solve them, but you can re-write them into a different form for example, 3(h-5) means 3 times (h-5) so you could write it as (h-5) + (h-5) + (h-5) (though nobody does this... it's too long) or you could say, I have three h's and three (-5)'s so I have 3h + 3*-5 or 3h - 15 writing 3(h-5) = 3h - 15 is called "distributing the 3"
