(4+m/8)=3/4 help

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Is it\[\large \dfrac{ 4+m }{ 8 }=\dfrac{ 3 }{ 4 }\] or\[\large 4+\dfrac{ m }{ 8 }=\dfrac{ 3 }{ 4 }\]??

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Well, if it's the first, a couple of options on how to go. It is a proportion, so you could cross-multiply, then divide, to solve for m. OR, you could multiply both sides by the LCD of the fractions, which will eliminate the fractions, and then solve for m (that would be my choice, but either of these will work). If it's the 2nd one, then it isn't a proportion, so cross-multiplying isn't an option. Just go with multiplying both sides by the LCD.
