The United States is one of very few countries that have not officially adopted the metric system as a routine system of measurement. Do you think that the U.S. should officially adopt the metric system? Why or why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes so that more work can get done and more chemicals can be discovered

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks

tbh I don't much like scienceguy227 answer, I would go so far as to say it is incorrect! This is because the scientific community universally uses the metric system already, conversion is also relatively easy between metric and standard. if you put scienceguy227's answer you will probably get no marks unless your teacher doesn't care anymore. This is an opinion question, you need to provide some insight as to why people do not wish to adopt the metric system in the united states. Perhaps google it and try to survey peoples opinions or even read Wikipedia. Ask yourself why are people sticking with a system that doesn't seem applicable to the scientific community anymore?

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

You can't be wrong either way, but you can be wrong if you write something as asinine as what scienceguy227 wrote, no offense to you scienceguy227.
