What is the Ds (it's like a tiny little s) and the Rf (little f) in Chemisty ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ds is Darmstadtium and Rf is Rutherfordium :)

If the question is asking " Measure the Ds (in cm) for each color that you see on the coffee filter (there may not be three). Calculate the Rf for each color using the equation in the Introduction section. " what does this mean? hahahahhaa I'm just lost right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the marker dots will travel up the coffee filter, and some colors may separate, such as purple separating into red and blue, etc, but you cannot know these exact measurements without conducting the experiment. Is there someone else in your class who you can borrow the materials from? Measure the distance from the original line where you drew the dots to the new location of the dots. The water and alcohol may have different measurements, but the ratios should be consistent

I did the experiment, I just didn't know what to do with the result of it lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol its cool It took me a second to figure it out too but their should be like a table or somewhere to record your data idk how your school does it lol :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah man theres a table, thanks : )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Welcome :)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i know this question is answered, but just so you know Ds=distance, Rf=retardation factor

^Thanks for the medal man :)
