HELP! How would I find the perimeter of a figure with the 4 sides that are x-3 2x+8 2x+5 x+6

Directrix (directrix):

The perimeter is the sum of the lengths of, in this case, the four sides. P = x-3 + 2x + 8 + 2x + 5 + x + 6 Simplify that sum. Post what you get and we can compare answers, okay? @Brookebrookiee

So I would just add those together?

Directrix (directrix):

Yes, add the like terms together. Attached is a reminder about how to recognize like terms.

4x+16?

Directrix (directrix):

I got the 16 but not the 4x. Check the sum of your x terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x?

Directrix (directrix):

No. Look at the x terms: x + 2x + 2x + x What is the sum? Count x as" one x"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x?

Directrix (directrix):

Yes. So, the perimeter = 6x + 16

Thank you!

Directrix (directrix):

You're welcome.
