Can someone please explain how to solve the literal equation: c=(x+a)/b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the x+a is in the form of a numerator over the denominator which is b.

OpenStudy (zpupster):

what are you solving for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am trying to figure out what the equation would be, for example, ax=bx-c i would divide a by a leaving me with x=bx-c, but i have to do it on both sides so it would end up as x=bx-c/a. then i would substitute numbers for a b and c then solve for x.

OpenStudy (zpupster):

i guess you are trying to solve for x c = x+a/b mult b both sides bc = x+a and subtract a from both sides bc-a = x

thank you, i actually just figured that out myself, but it is good to have confirmation.
