2/3p +1/5=4/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this problem you are solving for p do you know or have a clue what the first step is, in order to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but i have to use the algebraic method do I turn them into decimals then multiply by 100?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no you don't have to turn them into decimals...and multiplying by 100 i've never heard of that operation in algebra concepts what you should do is set the constants on one side and try to get p by itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you should subtract 1/5 on both sides so you can cancel the 1/5 on the left side. what value do you get on the right side (4/5)-(1/5)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay now the next step is, you want the left side to be only p. no coefficient should be in front of it. Do you know how to get rid of the 2/3 in front of p?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply by 3 and cancel the denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not by 3 but by 3/2 because you want to get the reciprocal of 2/3 also you have to do something else with the reciprocal, you have any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i gots it now thanks for your help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

appreciate it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome anytime.....p = 9/10 hope you got the same answer
