Add the exponents of the numerator, then subtract the exponent of the denominator.

Wait so I came up with x^11/3 divided by x^2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhh I seee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11 - 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which gives u 9 ..then simplify 9/3

Same way, but think of the cube root x as x^-(1/3). Then add the exponents (watch the sign of the last one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops, sorry. Not negative. just X^(1/3). My brain is full today. :)
