Spanish help anyone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's an example of ser and estar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can help. Hold on

OpenStudy (plainntall):

They mean the same thing, but in different context. What is the translation to english?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think u should post this in MIT 21F Spanish I

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they both mean "to be"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The question is: Explain in English the differences between SER AND ESTAR, and then give one example of each in Spanish. I have the differences as "The verb “ser” is used to describe situations, people, time, characteristics, and is used for descriptions. The verb “estar” expresses the state or condition that is sometimes temporary. It also includes people, things, and the location of people, things, and places." I think that is right, I was just wondering what an example of each would be.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I didn't even see that section @kathy0514 lol

OpenStudy (plainntall):

Yes, ser is in the sens of I am Sarah and estar is in the sense of a condition I am cold. I think by example they want you to conjugate. What is "I am" for both verbs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's ok, just tag these people on the other question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure @plainntall

OpenStudy (plainntall):

I am Sarah translated to Spanish using Ser and I am cold translated to Spanish using Estar is what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SER is about telling time, the date, occupation or nationality. and ESTAR would be questions about the state, location, how someone is feeling or health.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk

OpenStudy (plainntall):

Don't you have the conjugation in your book? They are both irregular verbs. Yo soy, Yo estoy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that the answer? An example for ser and estar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make a sentence with using those verbs in them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yo soy sexy

OpenStudy (plainntall):

That's good I guess, maybe try bonita or quapo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol I was kidding

OpenStudy (plainntall):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome :) and I wouldn't send that to my teacher lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Soy de los Estados Unidos. Is that okay for ser?

OpenStudy (plainntall):

Yes that works :)
