graph 8x − 7y = 56

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need some help can anyone help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for x by adding 7y to both sides then dividing both sides by 8 to isolate x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or solve for y first by subtracting 8x from both sides then dividing both sides by -7 to isolate y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it looks like both x and y = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would have to check to see if that were true

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

8x − 7y = 56 Little known "Intercept Form" is amazing. Divide by 56. \(\dfrac{x}{7} + \dfrac{y}{-8} = 1\) The intercepts are now staring at you. (7,0) and (0,-8)
