OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Can someone explain what encryption is, SLOWLY, doesn't have to be everything in one day? HELP!!!!

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Encryption is the process of encoding messages (or information) in such a way that eavesdroppers or hackers cannot read it, but that authorized parties can. Basically encrypting something is like locking it up with a password or a program...

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

How does one do encryption? RSA

OpenStudy (shamil98):

google it

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

I asked someone to help explain please :/

OpenStudy (shamil98):

should this not be in the computer science subject section?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Discrete math really

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

I just don't understand the jump from caesar shifts to public/private key encryption lel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't want to get into this nor do can i answer this properly, but you can think of it as a much much more complex algorithm than a simple Caesar shift. while Caesar is x-3, other encryption algorithms can be (3x - 7)^{(x-2)/3} for example. this encryption algorithm would probably be very easy to hack. complex ones are probably insane with many variables and recursions. again i know nothing about this really

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

@Euler271 , so that's what is probably is, including something about the NP complete problem of factoring primes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk what that is, lol. but i looked it up real quick, and, probably :P
