Why is the indefinite integral of [1/(x-1)^3] from -2 to 3, divergent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both my teacher's notes and Wolfram immediately say it's divergent without giving any steps. But I don't understand why exactly. I took the limit as t → 1 from the left, and the limit as m→1 from the right, solved the two integrals, and came up with a convergent answer.

I forgot to replace u with (x-1) in this problem. The first integral diverges as t approaches 1 from the left.
