How would you graph -5x+y=1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

frist question. do you have a graphing calculator?

OpenStudy (shamil98):

You do not need a graphing calculator for this equation. You want to convert this equation to slope-intercept form, which is \[y = mx + b\]

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Where m is your slope (rise/run) and b is your intercept at which you start your graphing.

OpenStudy (shamil98):

In this equation , -5x + y = 1 you only need to move one variable, the -5x you add it to both sides, resulting in y = 5x + 1 so your slope is (5/1) 5 up , right 1 and 5 down, left 1. you start your graph at the y intercept (0,1).
