OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

What are the values of the variables in the triangle? Photo included

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

OpenStudy (shamil98):

30 - 60 - 90 triangle, is this for geometry? or trigonometry?

OpenStudy (freethinker):

if a triangle has a maximum internal angle of 180,let us do a little bit of calculation. you have a right triangle with another angle of 30

OpenStudy (freethinker):

that leaves you a 60 degree angle on your missing angle.

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

yes, its a 30-60-90, i knew that. Its for geometry.

OpenStudy (freethinker):

it doesn't matter whether this is a geometry or trigonometry, because they use the same theorem

OpenStudy (shamil98):

I'm guessing for geometry.. so the leg opposite to the 30 degrees is x = 1/2 (26√3) y = 1/2 (26√3) √3

OpenStudy (shamil98):

x = 13√3 y = 13 x 3 = 39

OpenStudy (shamil98):

http://www.regentsprep.org/regents/math/algtrig/ATT2/Ltri30.htm Take a look at that , ash, it comes in handy :P

OpenStudy (freethinker):

let us align your triangle a little bit so it is less confusing, shall we? |dw:1382048455280:dw|

OpenStudy (shamil98):

√3 x √3 = 3 if you are wondering where the 3 came from for y.

OpenStudy (freethinker):

that is nifty thing to have, but it comes with the same answer if we followed one general concept throughout. x = 1/2 of hypotenuse

OpenStudy (freethinker):

but what if it is not 30-60-90… shoot good luck
