11/14 - (5/7-3/10)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do what's in parentheses first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

has to have a common denominator. Do I need a commom denominator for just the parantheses first or for all three?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

those are fractions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

either - I think its easier to do ones in parentheses first do you know the lowest common denominator of 7 and 10 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk. 70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right so it becomes 50/70 - 21/70

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you see that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, I get the basic idea I just got lost knowing if I had to do all three first or the ones in the parentheses

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you for replying.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw

\[\frac{11}{14}-\left(\frac{5}{7}-\frac{3}{10}\right)=\frac{11}{14}-\left(\frac{29}{70}\right)=\frac{13}{35} \]
