PLEASE HELP

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

these are a considerable amount of questions, give me some time and I'll see which ones I can help you with... meanwhile, most of the questions are common sense, so what do you think some answers are?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

for the first one... molten rock = lava what do you think when you think lava?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hot and dangerous ? im not sure I suck and science .. ?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

what does lava come out of?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

at *

OpenStudy (anonymous):

volcanoes?? Hot spot

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

volcanoes is correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I feel like im in kindergarten.;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but isn't a volcano formed by a hot spot ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u there ??

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

now for the second one, a convergent boundary is when a plate of earth's crust sinks under another, like a puzzle piece that doesn't fit, so it ends up with a dip or "ridge" so out of the options of > an ocean ridge > an aperture > a rill > an earthquake what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yup :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure >.<

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

now for 3... 3. The theory of plate tectonics states that the earth’s surface is __________. > one solid piece > broken into many pieces > mostly covered in water > very thick have you been taught the theory? I'd like to think of earth as a giant shifting puzzle that's missing some pieces so it doesn't exactly fit... so what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c? because half of the maintains are covered by the water

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mountains *

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it is true that earth's surface is covered in water but the question is asking what "the theory of plate tectonics states" which was what I was trying to hint by saying "I'd like to think of earth as a giant shifting puzzle that's missing some pieces so it doesn't exactly fit..."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b broken into pieces

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u actually make science easier I wish u where my teacher :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

so for 4. Plate tectonics explains which of the following? > mudslides (falling rocks) > tornadoes (spinning air) > ocean currents (moving water) > trenches (dips in earth's crust) now that you kind of understand the theory of plate tectonics, think of how puzzle pieces overlap each other when they don't fit, they make dips or ridges right? I put an easier to understand synonym to help. which do you think it is then?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

@armine you still there?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

5. Alfred Wegener suggested that earth’s continents are moving. Which evidence supports this theory? > different types of of rocks on opposite coasts > close geometric correspondence of continental coastlines > revolution of the Earth > similarities in human fossils option one, different rocks in different places doesn't prove anything option two, means that the shapes of the continents fit together like a puzzle piece option three, well the earth spins every day... option four, humans are everywhere you can use process of elimination or you can think like this: so if you take two puzzle pieces that fit each other and take them away, they still keep their shape right? http://www.all-science-fair-projects.com/webroot/resource_cache/26e9ce5042eab1ec3ca6ac0a41855787/225572b8c0cd3f746d6420afb15a990b/0c9a1c823bea2008604aa4a645cb465e

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

6. What forms when the earth’s plates slide past each other? > a volcano > a glacier > an ocean mountain > an earthquake try thinking about it this way, if you take two rough surfaces like sandpaper and rub them against each other, it doesn't move smoothly doesn't it? It would move jerkily. which of the options do you think involves such movement?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I am sorry my computer shut down and it wasn't coming up

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it's alright :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so number 4 is I think c or d im not really sure but c makes more sense to me

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

ocean currents are mainly affected by the gravitational pull from the moon, not the movement of earth's crust

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its c

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

nope because the question is asking what the moving of earth's crust causes. and the moving of earth's crust causes dips, ridges, or trenches.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I got its d? right >.< ???

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so for number 5 its B

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and number 6 its D

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yes :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

7. How did Wegener explain the fact that ancient horse fossils showed up on different continents? > The horses swam between the two continents. > The continents were at one time joined together. > The fossils were moved by humans. > The fossils must be of different species. and this one is kind of the same concept as question 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 7 is B??

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yes :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 8 is B??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right ?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yes :D yay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 9 is B? volcanic islands

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure about 10 but im guessing its A???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it ? :/

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

I'll go check, cause I don't know either lol :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yeah, I think it's A for 10 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

number 11 is confusing meh :0 cuz I think. isn't It the top part of the earth surfaces that drive the movements of the surface ??? so its like D ???

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

what drives the movement would be the part right below where the movement is happening

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its c since its below the surface ?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u could see the diagram right??

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and for number 12 the top surface is called ?? the cryosphere ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait isn't is the curst >>???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

crust*

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it's the crust lol I've been calling it that for the previous questions haven't I?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh lol yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u should be a tutor :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

lol I have no patience in real life, I would have rug your neck by now if we were talking in person :P for 13... ever had that moment when you're pushing or pull on a stuck door with all your might and then all of a sudden it jerks free and you trip over?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah lol ur funny

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wish u were my best friend

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so number 13 is D?? right

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yup :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol I just realized that I put this question in math lol

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

haha yeah, but you probably wouldn't have gotten it answered if you had put it anywhere else :P most people on this site just do math.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry for making u waste a lot of ur time u really have helped me ... my teacher doesn't explain anything she just post the things online and then I have to do it im homeschooled

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hate it .. but my sister loves it

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

ah, I see. I don't mind procrastinating on my homework to help people out :P and you're more than welcome to ask me more questions in the future :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u go to regular school ???

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :) but I'm mostly just the nerd in the corner lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not a nerd but I have a lot of friend that are nerd tho they don't help others

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

Well I suppose I've learned to take example from the best of all nerds ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I wish I was a nerd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is ur fav book ??

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

what does it look like? lol harry potter

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

how old are you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mines the mortal instruments <3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im 14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how old do I look like ??

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

idk teenager :P I was wondering because I had learned the plate tectonic stuff in 8th grade

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol I did not play attention to anything in 8th

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

I thought I hadn't either until I looked at the questions on this site and realized just how much I actually learned :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well ur smart that is the difference

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then talk to u later BYE thank you for helping you really helped me a lot

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

your welcome :) and you're more than welcome to ask me more questions in the future

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU very much

OpenStudy (goformit100):

Please post the question in correct section.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

and if you read in the comments @goformit100 we've already discussed this

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

"lol I just realized that I put this question in math lol " "haha yeah, but you probably wouldn't have gotten it answered if you had put it anywhere else :P most people on this site just do math." @goformit100
