Explain how parasitism and mutualism are similar and how they are different
Parasitism is a one-way relationship in which the parasite lives within or on another organism. The relationship benefits the parasite but not the host organism, which may be weakened or exposed to disease. Ticks, fleas, tapeworms, bloodsucking leeches, and mistletoes are some of many examples of parasites. Mutualism is a two-way relationship between organisms with benefits on both sides. For example, to achieve pollination many plants need the services of an animal which is rewarded with food in the form of nectar. thats how theyre different
Both are similar only in one sense that both haev two organisms and these both are the association for food, shelter or support. Mutualism is the association in which both the organism get benefited. Parasitism is the kind of association in which one organism which is a parasite that takes the benefit of the other which is known as host and this host is harmed by parasite. Parasitism is mainly for food but some time for support also as in some plants.
