to know which number is larger in decimals 0.567 or 7.0 like that ...how do you know or what should i know in order to solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.7 not the other way

OpenStudy (chrisneedshelp):

0.000- thousands hundreds tens ones

OpenStudy (chrisneedshelp):

in that order

OpenStudy (chrisneedshelp):

0.567 or 7.0 what do you think is bigger?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7.0 but i wrote it wrong its 0.7

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

really?! you are over thinking this....which is larger 5 or 7 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats rude i said its 0.7 not 7.0 it changes the problem completely

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

in what way u find that which no is bigger....if the nos do not have decimals.. for eg... you tell which is bigger 5or7

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

@suzy4321

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

yup in the same it hapeens with the decimal nos.. 0.5 or 0.7 which is greater

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

you can take it like this if you have ten apples and some one tolds you to take 7 apples

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

and agaig 5 apples.. so when you have more apples

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically the number next to the right of the decimal only matters, like 0.567 and o.7 o.7 is bigger the rest doesn't matter is what i understand?

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

yup it is only when these two nos are different.. but when these two nos are same...you have to look for next no...in the same way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.55 is smaller than 0.56

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

@suzy4321 do u understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.1 > 0.01 > 0.001 > 0.0001 etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have .69 cents in your pocket and your friend has .71 cents in their pocket who has more change?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In order to know which decimal is larger, you need to look into the tenth first and then so on. example: Which is larger 0.49 or 0.9 ? The answer is quite obvious if you look at the tenths. The answer is definitely 9. But in some other cases, the tenth are the same, if so, you need to look in the hundredths and compare the numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u yes i understand 0.56 , o.59 so 59 is bigger and 0.5 , 0.57 57 is bigger
