How do you solve this equation: x^210^x-4x10^x-12(10^x)=0

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well you can remove 10^x as a common factor so you have \[10^x(x^2 -4x -12) = 0\] now a couple of points 10^x will never be zero. S so the only way that the equation can be zero is for the quadratic to be zero. so you need to solve the quadratic and find the zeros.. the quadratic can be factored.... and they you'll have the solutions for x
